Apple Inc. said Monday its soon-to-be released mobile phone, the iPhone, will have a battery life that supports 8 hours of talk time, better than what the company originally estimated in January.
The company says the battery may also support 7 hours of video playback, or 24 hours of audio playback, and it will feature up to 250 hours of standby time.
Apple also said that it is upgrading the top surface of the phone from plastic to optical-quality glass.
The device is scheduled to ship on June 29.
Shares of Apple traded at $123.65 in the premarket session, up $3.15, or 2.6 percent, from Friday's closing price of $120.50.
